Dear Friends, Family and Fans,
I hope you like our Cottonwood Clarion logo, it is being recycled from our 1997 newsletter. Yes, it has been that long since we were in the "official" newsletter mode. Since our social media coordinator is posting our newsletter on Stan's Facebook I thought it might be more attractive than the typical email format.
The next Stan Lynde Cartoon feature "VALENTINE'S DAY" points out the differences in priorities between men and women. It appears to start at a young age. See this latest cartoon on the new page of Grass Roots Cartoons linked at http://stanlyndeauthor.com/?page_id=211 scroll down and click on 02-12-12. We're constantly tweaking and adding new content to Stan's Blog. We hope this make it easier for you to read, enjoy and comment when the cartoon strikes a chord with you.
We are very excited to bring you the Stan Lynde LATIGO Sunday Cartoon Strip Feature each Sunday. LATIGO ran in newspapers from 1979-1983. Cottonwood Publishing published the dailies in a three volume trade paperback in 1991-1992 and 1994. Latigo Sunday Cartoons have not been published since 1983. Each Sunday strip was designed with a story from beginning to end within the Sunday strip. Each Sunday you will be treated to a new Latigo Sunday cartoon. Many of you will never have seen these cartoons before. We were very fortunate after our house fire of 1990 to receive a full set from Johnny Wehren the assistant who inked the Latigo cartoons during its time as a syndicated strip. Unlike Rick O'Shay, Stan Lynde owns his Latigo creation. We hope you will enjoy reading these rare Latigo Sunday cartoon strips beginning this Sunday February 12, 2012. Latigo was somewhat of a lady's man, so in this introduction to Latigo you will see a glimpse of that side of his personality. Check out the new Latigo Sunday at http://stanlyndeauthor.com/?page_id=729.
"Boots #3" Feature posting Thursday 02-16-12: "By the 1880s cowboy boots had evolved to pretty much the same form as we know today, except they came up higher on the leg and the toes were more round than pointed. Nearly all cowboy boots of the 1880s were black in color, with a slanted heel about 2 inches high, although some heels went to 3 1/2 and even 4 inches! French calf was the usual leather (no ostrich, emu, or snake skin in those days!)." Watch for this post on Facebook and other social media locations.
HOT NEWS: The Winner of the 100x100 Blog Fans Promotion for the Hipshot/Belle Starr Poster is Steve Rogers of San Antonio, Texas. Steve said he wouldn't have known about Stan's Blog if it hadn't been for his good friend Joe Gulick of Lubbock, Texas. Quite a coincidence for us. We first met Joe when we did our first cross-country book tour. The tour took us all the way to Corpus Christi, Texas. We met Joe during that tour and we've been friends ever since. Stan had written his first Merlin Fanshaw book The Bodacious Kid. It's sometimes a small world. Even more so now thanks to the Internet, we're meeting lots of new friends across the country and around the world. We have a new promotion going for NEW members who sign up at Stan's Blog for our Newsletter. Be a friend to a friend by sending this link http://stanlynde.net/special-promotion_288.html.
Other News:
For the fans waiting for the next Stan Lynde Merlin Fanshaw western novel, there are two pieces of news. The first is that Summer Snow is expected within the month out on Amazon Kindle and in Trade Paperback. Summer Snow is the third of Stan's Merlin Fanshaw novels out on Amazon Kindle, and at the unbelievable price of just $2.99! The second news up date, is that Stan has just completed chapter 19 of the Big Open, which means it is about 2/3 finished. Yes, there will be edits, proofing and all sorts of preparation before it is published, but many have asked about the next book. In all of Stan's novels, the characters take on a life of their own. The Big Open is no different; it is full of suspense, humor, emotions, twists and turns. God blessed Stan with the gift of storytelling. The Big Open will be out as quick as is possible.
That's all of the fan news for this week. Here's wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
